Up at the break of dawn (as always) strolled out to my garage to check on my sweet baby girl Roxanne. She smiles at me with those piercing laser Matte Raven Black eyes and I knew (as always | notice I kinda like the phrase "as always"?) what she wanted, oh yah.

So I took Roxie out on my routine 120 mile trek up to the Julian mountainous areas where some very tasty twisties await and then back down through the Borrego Springs desert. BS has some of the most beautiful (as far as the eyes can see) rich, black, sleek and smooth asphalt runs tailor made to feed the addiction I have for the need for speed.

My best so far (given the real-estate) 177 MPH at ~(80-85)% throttle and ran and tracked so very smooth as fine premium Persian silk. Roxie just kept kicking me as we began to consume the massive torque she has to pony up and she was begging me to pound her much harder. Next time, I will be more than compelled to oblige her.

What?? my bike dyno'd at 157rwh and she tops out about 150mph, so where are you finding the extra 27mph?
what is everyone else topping out at?

I would say ur speedo is way off if that's what ur going by. Need to use a gps to get an accurate reading. Stock I heard they run bout 136mph. I just can't see a flashed one with removing the rev limiter is going to gain u 40+ more mph.

I haven't done a top speed run, but I would hope that my 155 on my older Triumph Daytona 675 would be broken by the bigger displacement unless it is limited in some way. I can see 177 personally. As an example, the below video of a MT-10 relates to 164 mph:

I'm going to say that 136 is way lower then we can get. I've done 130 a couple of times and that was still in 5th with plenty more to go throttle wise.

Where do I get the numbers? I must be clear. A Dynojet is in the hands of a highly skilled performance mechanic is absolutely ~(3-5)% more accurate than the OEM's ODO from a HP and top-speed perspective. He's advised me that most if not all OEM sportbike and/or superbike ODOs read higher than the true numbers that are claiming it has calibrated. Having said that, I'll take what I posted as the facts of what Yamaha claims from a stock to modified comparison. Take it up with them if the numbers perturb you.

And again, the number I posted was with a healthy amount of throttle to spare. He tells me time and time again that the magic is in the ECU primarily and taking painstakingly varying formulae over long periods of parallel evaluations. My performance guy is very exceptional and brilliant at his craft.

His work has spanned Internationally for decades working with and in teams for some of the most successful MotoGP guys on the planet. And mind you, you'll have to pay the healthy price if you want the very best in class. He's not going to take your bike (and his time) and spend 2-3 days tweaking, mapping over and over again going as far as simulating different environments (altitude, air pressure, heat, cold . . .) to present you with perfection for a mere $600, aint going to happen that way.

Let's be clear. The rev limiter will never be completely removed from any consumer engine, unless the "performance mechanic" you hire is a complete douche-bag and a troglodyte.

If you got the coin and you want to blow up your engine then have at it Sparky (T&C)! :smile2:

My guy "extended" my rev limiter to a comfortable safe "zone" and it makes all the world of difference.

Yes, read it and weep or DIY.

I thought with the ECU refashed and and full boltons with the rev limiter extended 200 rpm the top speed on the dynos with no wind drag was 171-172mph at which with stock gearing is maxed out? Could swear it was a video I seen on the other MT10 forum.

In case you missed it, I was pretty much agreeing with you?

Dude, if your bike is getting those numbers, video that! We would love to see it. I'm not sure I would even want to go that fast on a naked bike, I imagine the wind blast is brutal.

I would think the wind resistance at those speeds on a naked bike wouldn't let it go dat fast.

No I'm not Robin speaking to Batman, BUT I WISH.

I mentioned in my last post here, "I aint done yet!" And I'm still not for now but I cleared my first personal record today by a nice sweet margin. And again this wasn't near full throttle (I'll never floor Roxie even though I know she was built for hard RPs. Found another run with a good riding '15 YR1 buddy of mine down in Temecula. Man talk about smooth asphalt even better than Borrego Springs. It's my new "rocket groundS" and I smoked him on his YR1, the torque is just too overwhelming.

Anywho, I will refrain from posting the hard numbers here as I don't want to ruffle any good folk's feathers here. Just imagine as if you're watching a TCM classic black & white movie leaving all of your acute imagination to run wild and journey into the unknown . . .

As Ozzie always says " ALL ABOARD!!! "

I hate to be the doubter, but with the bikes transmission(30/24) and final drive(43/16) gear ratio, 177MPH seems hard to reach without raising the RPM to about 13,000 or dropping two teeth in the rear(plus raising RPM to 12,500).

There is a reason you see so many people hovering around the 164MPH top speed, the gearing limiting factor.

Hollywood magic I suppose.

After googling top speed of an fz10 last night the fastest I found was a 164mph also. 177mph @ only 80-85% throttle I'm calling bull $h!t. Sorry!!!:smile2:

After doing more research I found dat most yamaha bike speedometers read 5-6mph faster @ 60mph which my yamaha raider does that I own. So when traveling 120mph indicated on the speedo ur only doing 108-110mph. Now getting up to 177mph indicated on ur speedo ur actually probably running around 160-165mph. Gps is only way to get an accurate reading. So I can believe then ur showing 177 on ur bike. That's why they make the speedo healer for motorcycles

But wouldn't most people be going off of what they read on the speedo? If that was the case, we would see a lot more people claiming a 177mph top speed or something close to it no?
